For eyes that really stand out, remember to pay the proper attention to your eyelashes. Find out how to create a longer, curlier eyelash in a couple of minutes with these ideas.
Take off all eye makeup. Before you can begin to curl and lengthen you eyelashes, you need to start with a blank slate. You can't use an eyelash curler if there is any mascara on your eyelashes. (This means no re-curling throughout the day, ladies!) This can cause your eyelashes to break off! Use eye makeup remover to properly clean your eyes. Then you're ready to begin working on your eyelashes.
Curl your eyelashes first. Once your eyelashes are clean with absolutely no mascara on them, you can start to curl them. Heat up the eyelash curler for about half a minute by using a hairdryer. When hot, put the eyelash curler up to the eyelashes, and position them between the two clamps of the curler. Go as close as you can to the base of the eyelash and press down. Hold this position for around 20 seconds, and then let go. Your eyelashes should already look curled at this stage. Do these steps with the other eye (doing this process once is enough for each eye - you don't have to do the eyelashes twice over).
Put on the mascara. Once your eyelashes are curled you can start to lengthen them. Do this by getting a mascara that claims it is especially for creating long lashes. Pretty much all the usual drugstore brands have this type, so just go with your favourite - just check that it says lengthening on the label. Remove the applicator from the bottle and pull it along your top eyelash, going from the bottom of the lash outward and moving the wand from side to side, jiggling, as you go. Repeat this on the bottom eyelashes and do the other eye. Be careful not to put too much mascara on or the eyelashes will clump together. Just one coat of mascara is all you need if you are using the right type.
To complete, define your eyelashes. When you have finished curling and lengthening your eyelashes, take a look to make sure they look great. Separate out any eyelashes that have stuck together by getting a clean mascara brush and working through the eyelashes (clean the wand wiping the mascara off with a kleenex.) Remove any clumps. Your eyelashes will now be long and curled for the whole day!
